Älmhultsbladet is the co-worker magazine at IKEA since 1975. I was part of the editorial team for two years, securing timely stories from the head quarters in Älmhult, Sweden.

EDITORIAL FOR IKEA

In 1975, Ingvar Kamprad started Älmhultsbladet. It’s a unique, meaningful, and trustworthy weekly publication. Its primary target audience is the many co-workers at the IKEA head quarters in Älmhult, but also IKEA co-workers in Sweden and globally. As an editor, I managed everything from securing timely stories, strategic planning and administrative operation.

Besides writing editorial and short news stories in both English and Swedish, I created the layout and graphics for the different articles. Here is a small collection of some of the diverse work I did during my two years in the editorial team.

Editorial articles

The editorial articles is the main content of Älmhultsbladet – stories from the heart of IKEA. They capture the relatable everyday experiences and the stories bring life to the IKEA culture and key values. Story concepts are brought out based on a strategic year plan, in sync with the IKEA key values as well as yearly IKEA events.

Short news

On the first pages in the publication, readers find short news stories. The short news articles can be about anything going on around the IKEA world, both in Älmhult and globally. Whatever buzzing IKEA news that could be fun to know, readers will find here.

Älmhultsbladet Special Edition 2023

Once a year, Älmhultsbladet launches a special edition. In this issue, IKEA in Älmhult is summed up in numbers. Behind every number there are many initiatives and stories. The special edition is intended to celebrate the achievements throughout the year and can be used as an onboarding tool for new IKEA co-workers, promoting the uniqueness of Älmhult. It also differentiates from the other issues, as it can be shared with stakeholders. It is a testament to the many great things going on around at the heart of IKEA.

Intranet hub for Älmhultsbladet news

One of my side projects in my role as Communication Specialist at IKEA was to redevelop the intranet hub for Älmhultsbladet. The hub is for anyone who contributes to the content of Älmhultsbladet or who just wants to know more about it.

I rebuilt the structure and created UX copy for the different pages. Here are some examples.
