Editorial articles
The editorial articles are the main content of Älmhultsbladet. They capture the relatable everyday experiences and the stories which bring life to the IKEA culture.
An editorial is usually a 2–4 page article that dives deep into a story worth sharing across the wider community. It often takes the form of an interview, giving readers a chance to get to know the person behind the story.
It starts with an eye-catching headline
A pull-quote is used to create context for readers who quickly scan through the issue
Images add value to the story, and are always paired with a caption
In the editorial articles, readers can take part of the stories behind every product or event, and get to know the people who made it all happen.
Here, the relatable everyday experiences shine, because they give life to the IKEA culture and key values.
This is one example of a heartfelt story, directly connected to the IKEA key value, Togetherness.
We talked to Karin, who accidentally deleted a whole site during her first months.
Editorial articles are strategically planned around the fiscal year, carefully timed to align with key product launches, events, and other happenings in the village of Älmhult. During my time in the editorial team, I wrote and edited a diverse range of stories. Feel free to click through some more of my favourites below.
